- Cutting time (min) = length ÷ speed + pierces × pierce time ÷ 60
- Machine cost = time (h) × machine hour rate
- Material = (width + spacing) × (height + spacing) ÷ 1,000,000 × $/m²
- Price = (machine + material) × (1 + margin), with the order minimum

FAQ
How do I find a part’s cut length?
Add up the perimeter of every contour in the drawing, including holes. CAD programs show this value; in MakerCutt Factory it’s read from the DXF automatically.
What cutting speed should I use?
Use the speed you run on your machine for that material and thickness. It varies with laser power and assist gas, so it’s best to compare with actual time on a few parts.
Why account for pierces?
Each pierce has a fixed time before cutting begins. On parts with many small holes, this time can exceed the cutting time itself.
